As an Assistant Professor at the Department of Emergency Medicine at Augusta University, Lieutenant Colonel David Ginn has had a remarkable journey from serving in the US Army to providing high-quality healthcare to service members and their families around the world as a Physician Assistant.

Early Beginnings and Military Service

Born in Hobart, Indiana, on November 29, 1981, David Ginn started his military career in the United States Army Reserves with the 495th Transportation Company in Lakeland, Florida. After receiving an ROTC scholarship from Florida Southern College, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science and mathematics in 2005, before commissioning as a Transportation Officer in the Regular Army.

Transition to the Medical Field

Following his deployment to Iraq as a platoon leader, Lieutenant Colonel Ginn embarked on a new path by enrolling in the Interservice Physician Assistant Program. After two challenging years, he earned a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This marked the beginning of his career as a Physician Assistant, where he served in various roles, including as a Physician Assistant in Warrior Medicine at Martin Army Hospital.

Dedication to Service

Despite facing personal challenges, such as his son’s medical issues, Lieutenant Colonel Ginn continued to demonstrate his commitment to serving others. He transitioned to the Georgia National Guard, where he served as the Senior Physician Assistant for the 48th Infantry Brigade. His dedication to providing quality healthcare was further highlighted when he joined the 42nd WMD-CST in North Carolina as their Physician Assistant.

Recognition and Achievements

Lt. Col. David Ginn’s exceptional contributions to the medical field were recognized when he was promoted to his current rank. His expertise and leadership have been invaluable, especially during challenging times such as the ongoing global health crisis. As demonstrated in his work with the Islands Department of Health and emergency medical services, Lieutenant Colonel Ginn’s commitment to ensuring the proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment showcases his dedication to the safety and well-being of those under his care.
